- ***** ***** great experience. I loved the on campus experience for OSCE and clinical skills training. The hybrid model of asynchronous lectures and in person training was great. - Alum
- UTMB Galveston By far the best experience I ever had. I highly recommend this institution for those willing to become nursing professionals. - Alum
- I had a wonderful experience. Il I was lucky to find a preceptors in my area. There was no out-of-pocket cost. My experience was wonderful. I was treated with respect and given a workload I felt was appropriate to my knowledge. I also was encouraged to ask questions and it was given some autonomy as well. My only complaint is I felt the NP program was more nursing theory and not as much hands-on. I had a friend in the PA program at the same time and I felt like they got more medical training, which I felt NP program was lacking. - Alum
- Gained a solid foundation as an NP This program is challenging and rigorous. The highlight of the program was meeting incredible future NPs whom I am still in contact with today. Finding preceptors was a first-time experience and required me to seek willing NPs to shadow and learn from in their clinic setting. If you live in the Houston area, the university will work with you to secure a site. However, if you are not, they offer support in finding placement, but the leg work is on your own. Networking with other NP students and NPs in practice is key to securing a preceptor. Overall, I am glad I attended UTMB and gained a solid foundation as an NP. - Alum
- Caution Students were frequently told that they needed to do better as they were master's level students, but instructors constantly made excuses for their own mistakes despite being master's level instructors with 20 years of experience. Instructors were not kind, or understanding, and I doubt they could perform the taks they asked of students. They would spring new concepts on students and get defensive when students asked questions. Very much the embodiment of nurses eat their young. They botched paperwork for clinical placement the last semester and almost cost me my graduating on time. When I pushed back they started holding grudges and retaliating. I was part of a program that paid preceptors, which was nice, but many preceptors were in it for the money. - Alum
