- Insecurity in securing preceptors I live in a rural state so finding preceptors was very difficult. I had to spend a lot of time networking and reaching out to a LOT of different providers across the state. A lot of time, it came right down to the wire and was extremely stressful not knowing if I would be able to find a preceptor in time. There was zero help in securing preceptors from my program. - Alum
- Bradley I not the best I had to get my own preceptors and finding them was a part time job on top of school and trying to work - Alum
- Excellent experience overall I would definitely do it again and I highly recommend this rigorous program. I was well prepared and proud to say I went through their program. They have an excellent reputation in the Nursing world! BUT… Bradley offered zero assistance with Preceptorship. I was lucky to find an NP at an Urgent Care that took me under her wing and I spent a year at the Urgent Care getting hours under her and then under an MD for half the year. Lucky they also volunteered at a women’s clinic so that fell into my lap as well. Sheer luck. Many students were not as lucky and ended up delaying their program. - Alum
- Online, disconnect My DNP program at Bradley University was online, went through covid, and was at times a real struggle. Mentorship was also a difficult thing to find. I live in a rural part of Colorado with not not people with a masters or hire degree that we're willing to be. My mentor. Basically came down to a mentor on paper only. It's difficult to find support when you're not near campus. I had to find my own preceptors because I don't live in Peoria. You have to start a year in advance before your clinical to find a preceptor because they are so sought after. It's almost a full-time job at times looking for a preceptor. It's difficult. But also allowed me to build bridges with other providers. With being online it allowed me to become more independent as a provider. Which in a rural area is very important. Reaching out to my support network is now not as difficult for me as it was before. But it's not for everyone. A lot of perseverance. - Alum
- First Cohort 2015 I was able to find my preceptors reasonably easy. I lived and worked in another city/county and was able to use that hospital/clinic system's doctors to line up the preceptors for the clinicals. This program and the professors prepared me for the certification exam as well as prepared me for life as an APN. Bradley is an excellent program with qualified professionals to help you meet your goals to becoming an APN. - Alum
