- Nursing excellence 2006 grad….. this program was fabulous. Good value. Classroom hours set for working students. Collaborative and knowledgeable faculty. Curriculum applicable to accreditation exam and future practice. - Alum
- Graduated1998 only 18 month course but we added a My mentor’s precepted for free back then. We had to find our own and my professors made visits and checked out the site and the met with the mentor. Loved my program. Only 12 of us and we lifted and supported each other. I felt prepared as I already was an RN for 12 years before I entered the program. As I became a preceptor, I would meet with the student and discuss expectations. Over the years the quality of candidates has been great. I have never accepted from out of state or online programs. - Alum
- UCONN's program is great overall. UCONN helps set up preceptorship often with UCONN alumnus. This is great because you get to know people in the community and this can help you secure a job upon graduation. - Alum
- Good school but don’t do online remote DNP I found the support lacking when it came to completing my DNP project. I was enrolled as a post-masters and have been an NP for 15 years before deciding to get my DNP . Ultimately I completed all of the courses with excellent grades but when it came time to submit my proposal for DNP project there was first an admin issue where the scool thought they were fully licensed in my state but had incorrect information and this delayed my project and caused me to switch my plan. AND later fhere were nothing but barriers and very little support with advisors that would often just not respond for weeks and then were not helpful. I switched advisors at one point and it wasnt better. I think if I hadn’t been remote it may have been better- but I was several states away. Ultimately I felt every delay was causing me another semester of tuition and not worth it. - Alum
- Highly recommend UCONN for NP Program I actually obtained my MSN for NP and then my PhD in nursing at UCONN. Both programs were excellent. The NP program was especially successful, preparing me for the exam and for the future work experience. My preceptor was amazing (an NP at Hartford Hospital) who assisted my transition from student to professional. It was difficult to work during the whole program as you need a flexible job - the program is not flexible. However, my experience was many years ago and this could be different now especially with online classes, etc. While the program is not perfect it provided what I needed to pass the exam and proceed to entry level NP positions. It also solidified my understanding of the role and gave me a great start in my career. - Alum
