- Found my own preceptor Made my own experience, thankfully had a good handle on what I needed - Alum
- NKU review I would not recommend this program. Very unorganized, difficult to get help from advisors and staff, little to no help with preceptor placement and will make you sit out a session if you cannot find a preceptor. Preceptors that they did help me fine were terrible. It was pretty easy coursework but not worth the stress of the disorganization and no help with preceptors. - Alum
- Preceptorship and placement I loved my time at NKU. It was online with a visit a semester. However, preceptorship at that time Was 100% one to find and secure. I know of several other programs which have partnerships and put you in the field. Luckily when I went to school I had been a nurse for 17 years so coursework was simple and passing the boards was a breeze for me. I did my own studying and did not have prep from NKU. I am a go getter so it wasn’t difficult for me to get things done. Unfortunately this seems to be a program that the younger generation may struggle with if they are not spoon fed what they need. Good luck! - Alum
- my first job has been a nightmare Finding my own preceptorship was challenging, many NPs want to chart for this. Is this ethical? Could have used more knowledge and help with hammering in commonly used meds and their doses. They added exam prep program as part of the coursework and this was moderately helpful. - Alum
- Little direction There was little overall direction or guidance in the program. I felt much better prepared for becoming an RN after undergrad than I did for becoming an APRN after my program here. It was very affordable and is most suitable for self-directed students. They emphasize finding your own preceptors from the beginning. I was able to find two in the area that did not charge, but spent around $1250 each for my other two preceptorships. I don’t think it was a terrible program but, as I said, you really have to be self-directed because there isn’t a lot of guidance. - Alum
