- Masters Decent program. Help with preceptor placement and good support from instructors - Alum
- Great program, but needs more clinical application In general, I think this is the issue with NP programs. There are many classes that you will never use as a clinical provider. RNs come into the program with a good base of that knowledge. The NP program should be focused on how to be the most knowledgeable clinician possible. More classes on imaging interpretation, diagnosis, and management and specialty areas such as management of cardiac conditions, renal conditions, endocrine condition, conditions, etc. would make this an amazing program. - Alum
- Great program I went to school over 15 years ago. I lived in a rural area and was able to secure my own clinical so I did not need help from the school, I do remember them having some difficulty for my colleagues. I think the program was rigorous enough to help prepare me and they were extremely supportive during my time there. - Alum
- CU College of Nursing self paced program with hybrid classes. However clinical placement is chosen for you and sometimes it can be a 10 minutes drive up to 1.5 hour drive depending on the placement site. - Alum
- PNP-PC Poor preparation for real world practice - teachers kept mentioning that you can call children’s 1 at children’s hospital Colorado for consult but for those of us who would go on to practice outside of the Denver/Co area we did not have this option to consult and the instructors did not teach enough content to prepare the student for practicing in rural or other areas. Almost non existent content on lab and diagnostic interpretation and diagnostic reasoning. No pediatric specific pharmacology class. Thelectures felt like they were directly out of a book and out dated. A lot of self learning and poor clinic preparation. If you are out of state they do not provide any help with finding a preceptor and do not evaluate your chosen preceptor to determine if you will get quality clinical training. It felt like a diploma mill school. Unless you go into this program with years of pediatric experience, you will not come out on the other end prepared to care for children in primary care safely. - Alum
