- Average The work load was manageable and I was able to complete the program while working full time. It was the student’s responsibility to find preceptors and this was challenging, especially for Peds and Women’s Health rotations. The course content/presentations were average and much of the content was self-taught. There were online and in person options available, which allowed for flexibility with scheduling. - Alum
- My experience at Lewi University I was able to work attaining Masters / FNP program. This program did not support students for preceptors. It was challenging juggling my time- but possible. I was fortunate to know many healthcare providers to precept me in for my clinical hour's. At that time there was no cost for preceptor's time. Overall- I believe my nursing experience and exposure in the ICU and with CV surgery added so much to be successful with this program. I did pass my certification the first time. - Alum
- FNP Program I chose Lewis University because I completed my undergraduate degree there and they offered a discount to returning student. My employer was also doing a cohort program with them at the time so I chose this program. My experience was ok. There was little to no help with finding preceptors and that was extremely stressful and time consuming. I had a site fall through the night before I was supposed to start and then I reached out to the school to inform them their response was basically if I don’t secure a new site and have all of the documents submitted and approved by the end of the week I had to drop the concurrent didactic course. The professors were fine, most of my program was online outside of a couple classes where I had to commute to the oakbrook campus. - Alum
- Experience Lewis’ program was moderately manageable regarding work life balance; it was difficult managing work life balance during clinical. There was very little if any support with finding clinical sites; they provided a list (only when requested) with many providers who no longer were available and my experience was cold calling offices. Regarding preparing for boards, I did not find the program was very helpful. The prep course I chose (with no guidance from the program) was able to get me prepared. I chose this program related to cost since my hospital had an agreement with this school. From what I understand from my colleagues their experiences with other schools is pretty similar. - Alum
- Good Program The program and educators were great. Finding preceptors was not part of the program’s responsibility, it was my own. The workload and curriculum were not difficult to manage while working part time. I felt prepared to start a position as a new grad due to the quality of my education. - Alum
