- Okay, but not great Chamberlain University did not help me find preceptors in my area whatsoever. There was also some miscommunication about who could preset me in the state of Washington if it had to be an NP, MD or a PA-C. I had lined up to have a PA precept me and was getting ready to start practicum with that PA and was told the week of that I had to find a different preceptor due to Washington state regulations. I did learn that a PA can precept you. You just cannot have all of your hours under a PA and you have to have so many with either an MD or an NP. So that set me back trying scramble to find a new preceptor as soon as possible. Luckily, I was fortunate to be able to use the same preceptor that I had the previous class session to accommodate my needs. Overall, Chamberlain wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t the best. I found that they were not very supportive in helping their students who were struggling and I’ve heard that it’s gotten worse since I’ve graduated. - Alum
- Mediocre School was fine. It was what you made of it. I feel like it could’ve been better for the amount of money it cost, but I made it work. I also made several great friends and that also really helps to get through a program. - Alum
- Chamberlain College of Nursing Chamberlain's NP programs can be completed 98% online with two campus trips for skills check off and one for intensive certification review. The course work is robust with strong emphasis on clinical preparedness. Like most post graduate work, there is a high expectation of independent study. Several advantages are rolling admission. One can be admitted and start attending classes within the same month in most cases. All classes are structured identically giving students the advantage of seeing all assignments at the beginning of the course so they can plan ahead for scheduling conflicts. All course are set up on the same points system removing instructor bias. Courses are provided as one course every eight weeks, which is both quick and allows for student flexibility. Chamberlain will assist with clinical placement but it is generally advised to find your own preceptors and sites or you may have to commute a considerable distance. Overall, a well structured program. - Alum
- Would not recommend I worked part time while in school for FNP but only because I had to financially. I ended my program with $65,000 in student loan debt which is absurd especially when I found out a local college offered the same program $50,000 cheaper. The process for finding a preceptor was daunting and kept me out of an 8-week rotation when I could not secure one in time. I would not recommend Chamberlain to anyone as it is almost impossible to complete this program while maintaining a job and/or family life, not without some kind of mental breakdown. One positive I have is that I felt like for the most part my instructors were available for assistance. I only encountered one that I felt did not have interest in my success. I also felt like the APEA course was very helpful in preparation for my certification exam. - Alum
