- Frontier I enjoyed my Frontier experience enough to do it three times. I did FNP, PMHNP and DNP at Frontier. This school's history is the epitome of rural care. I believe in their values and mission to care for patients and see their students excel. - Alum
- Frontier- quality online program Frontier was the first distance education program in the US and does online learning the right way. They are very selective of applicants, have high standards that they uphold throughout admissions and your journey in the program. They offer synchronous and asynchronous learning modes as well as approachable professors. Some professors are great and others not as much, but that’s any program you choose. I never felt I was teaching myself. They want you to succeed and will help support you with whatever life throws your way. As far as preceptors, you do get access to their preceptor map with locations and contact information of those who they have had contracts with. However, the map is often not up to date and responses were limited. Most of my preceptors I secured through networking with former colleagues. Your regional coordinator can provide some leads, but they overall do not place you. They do pay an honorarium but that’s subject to change at any time and never guaranteed. - Alum
- Amazing program This school provided an excellent program, however you will get out of it what you put in. They will not spoon feed you, you have to ensure ample study time and put in the work. If you do, you will have the foundation to pass boards and enter the fnp practice. I would highly recommend this program, especially for the cost. - Alum
- Excellent experience! My time at Frontier was fantastic. I first earned my WHNP degree and then decided to continue on to complete my DNP. I was able to work full-time throughout my NP program by grouping my hospital shifts together and using my days off to study. When I transitioned into my NP role, I enrolled in the DNP program and was able to complete that degree at my place of employment. Securing preceptorships during the WHNP program was somewhat challenging, but one helpful aspect of Frontier is that they provide a stipend to preceptors. While this cost is ultimately covered through tuition, it was reassuring not to have to pay anything out of pocket. Frontier also tries to coordinate preceptorships with sites used by previous students, though I was the first student to rotate through all three of my locations. I’ve recommended several people to Frontier, and they have also enjoyed their experiences. I’m truly glad I decided to take the plunge. - Alum
- Flexible Great curriculum. Works well for work/life/school balance. Community focus, rural health focus. The burden of finding a preceptor is ultimately placed on the student. - Alum
