- 23 years ago I attended the program in person because that’s how it was done 23+ years ago. I graduated in 1991. It was an excellent program. Great support from faculty. The faculty assisted us in finding preceptors and that was very helpful. I didn’t take my certification exam right after graduation and that was a mistake, best to take it ASAP. Finding a job was really difficult at that time, but I believe there are greater opportunities available now. I definitely recommend this program and SSU! - Alum
- Sonoma State Sonoma state offered a “hybrid” type program where most of the education/academics took place online, you do have On-campus teachings/ lectures, however it varies each semester. This allowed me the ability to continue to work as a nurse as well as further my education. Overall I really enjoyed Sonoma State. I felt like the cost of the program was very achievable as well the offer of dual online/campus learning. You can choose a part-time program which includes a 3 year MSN-FNP degree or excel in a 2 year full-time program. The program provided the foundation for expectations of a FNP. Where you choose to precept is essentially where you will learn the most in regards to role and responsibilities of being a new FNP! - Alum
- SSU is a gem! I don't think I properly appreciated how good the program was when I was there. I just felt overwhelmed. I should have, it's a lot to learn. I see students from a lot of other programs now who do not seem half as well prepared as SSU left me. The program there is simply exceptional. - Alum
- Great hands on experience Sonoma state offered distant learning program with preceptor site visits and hands on exams . I attended classes at local campus every Saturday and 2 visits to Sonoma state every semester. Our class was the last batch for distant learning program by Sonoma at Stanidlaus university. I had great experience with very experienced and organized instructors. This program helped with the transition from RN to FNP. - Alum
