- Got it done There was tons of support from the staff. The online learning helped to make it manageable. There was almost no guidance on acquiring jobs post graduation There needed to be a class specific to charting I felt very unprepared for charting Most job positions want brand new NPs to have 1-2 yrs NP experience. It doesn’t make sense. It was very expensive and time consuming. - Alum
- Probably Better than A Lot of Programs The market is saturated for FNPs. They do not disclose this, and given most jobs are in urgent care settings, doing clinicals in urgent care was not allowed mostly. There was no job guidance or leads, even when I asked. Also, there was no preparation for procedures. We were told to purchase a textbook but that was it (similar to radiology, no preparation, just a required book). I know some in person programs require a semester in procedures. I paid for some workshops on my own after completing the program. There was supposed to be a one day women’s health procedure workshop but this was cancelled due to COVID. It would have been nice to have an option of doing a rotation in a women’s clinic. The curriculum was sufficient. Mostly, the effort put in by students is what results in better preparation for the field. I supplemented with a lot of medical school student resources. Also, the quality of each student’s clinical experience makes all the difference. I sought out the best - Alum
- Review Overall, it was a stressful but nice experience getting my master degree at the University of Michigan Flint. - Alum
- Good but could be better I enjoyed the class work and instructors and met some really great people. I was overly prepared for the board exam (which is a good thing) and the class workload allowed me to work full time for a majority of the program. There was one semester that was 2 credits too heavy, but I made it work. The school does not have placement for preceptors, you do need to find your own. Working at a big level 1 hospital in surgery allowed for networking and I had only one semester where finding a preceptor was a challenge and the school did step in and assist at that time. Overall, if I had to do it again I would do the masters level program as the cost and extra knowledge did not benefit me long term. - Alum
- 2019 grad I felt some of the classes were disorganized, some of the classes were unnecessary for my line of work and it cost a lot of money for me to take. I did not have any help actually securing a preceptor although I don’t feel that this was a priority back when I went to school at U os M Flint. The education I received definitely did prepare me to be a nurse practitioner I felt confident that my education would carry me through my career, I also feel that being U of M Flint graduate did help open doors to certain employers and pave the way for a good start to my career. - Alum
