6 reviews collected from current residents and alumni.- Overview Program was hydride program that required multiple in person evaluations with program faculty in both the clinical setting and classroom setting. Test were closed book without notes, heavily proctored, and timed. Clinical placements had requirements that aligned with courses taken at time of rotation. Clinical hours required for this program completion exceeded many others. This program could have incorporated more procedural skills for students. Felt very prepared for board exams and entry into practice. - Alum
- FNP accelerated track I did the accelerated FNP track which is no longer available. It was difficult to balance with work and home life. Some of the courses were useless for being a NP in the real world. However I think a lot of acadamia is this way unfortunately. Regardless, it was a good problem and I still recommend it, especially compared to some of the online degrees that have seemed to pop up everywhere that aren't teaching anything. Trust me, I've been a NP for 8 years and have had many NP students. I see the difference. - Alum
- The right start to my NP career This program prepared me well to pass boards and step into the NP role. The courses and clinicals provided the knowledge and skills I needed to feel confident in starting my career as an NP. - Alum
- Got it done There was tons of support from the staff. The online learning helped to make it manageable. There was almost no guidance on acquiring jobs post graduation There needed to be a class specific to charting I felt very unprepared for charting Most job positions want brand new NPs to have 1-2 yrs NP experience. It doesn’t make sense. It was very expensive and time consuming. - Alum
- Probably Better than A Lot of Programs The market is saturated for FNPs. They do not disclose this, and given most jobs are in urgent care settings, doing clinicals in urgent care was not allowed mostly. There was no job guidance or leads, even when I asked. Also, there was no preparation for procedures. We were told to purchase a textbook but that was it (similar to radiology, no preparation, just a required book). I know some in person programs require a semester in procedures. I paid for some workshops on my own after completing the program. There was supposed to be a one day women’s health procedure workshop but this was cancelled due to COVID. It would have been nice to have an option of doing a rotation in a women’s clinic. The curriculum was sufficient. Mostly, the effort put in by students is what results in better preparation for the field. I supplemented with a lot of medical school student resources. Also, the quality of each student’s clinical experience makes all the difference. I sought out the best - Alum
