10 reviews collected from current residents and alumni.- Excellent program, reasonable cost. I applied for this program in the early 1990's because it was a distance learning model. It was ideal for my lifestyle. I was raising 2 young children and lived >100 miles from any university that offered MSN-FNP programs. The classes were held one evening a week at the first year and then every other weekend after that. Our main professor was from USC and was excellent. At that time, the students found their own preceptors. I had a great experience with my preceptors. I was hired for my first job by one of my preceptors at Kaiser. I stayed with Kaiser for the majority of my career. - Alum
- The teachers were helpful I was able to secure a preceptorship on my own as this was the way the program was structured then over 12 yrs ago when i attended. I did most of my preceptorship then with my employer because it was easier since i already worked there. The classes were structured in a way that facilitated continue part time employment while in the program. The teachers were helpful but the resources were very limited then. - Alum
- Preceptorship and value of FNP program at CSUDH Securing preceptorship opportunities was difficult. I had to find and initiate contract myself. I had to travel up to 2 hours each way during my preceptorship. However, CSUDH FNP program prepares you well for your FNP career. - Alum
- Very accessible Very doable program, while working 2 nights/wk in hospital. Lots of classwork and studying, but reasonable and accessible. Some professors were amazing. One or 2 were pretty awful. Most were just all right. It’s notoriously difficult to find preceptors independently for NP training. I do not live close to University. They did not have many contacts here at the time so not much help with finding preceptors. I graduated in 2011 so things have probably changed since then. I hope that the general quality of the program has seen some improvement. - Alum
- Hard, raising 5 children and working full time Precptorship was difficult and this was more than 20 years ago and may be things have changed now. Students have to look for a precptor for themselves. The exit exam at that time was difficult. We had one month to select a topic, research the topic, on the day of the exam, bring your references, sit down and we had 4 to 5 hour to type our researched paper/topic at the school site. - Alum
