13 reviews collected from current residents and alumni.- Helpful facility Rutgers DNP program was both challenging and rewarding. They worked hard to make sure you hit every benchmark through your project to avoid you falling behind. Of course there were “not so helpful” courses you have to take led by “not so helpful” professors. The mantra and stance of those professors was something I thought I would never see again after undergrad. Ultimately, you can choose your chair and co-chairs and provided guidance, support, and feedback to get your project to the finish line. - Alum
- Rutgers Good teachers. I had to find my own preceptors but they provided a list of previously used sites. - Alum
- It’s difficult but attainable I worked full time and was a mother with 3 young ones. Nursing was my 2nd career. During our program we were left to find our preceptors which was better and convenient for us. There was no career mentorship preparedness, made it difficult to understand the work market. It’s 16 years ago things have changed. I did not pay for preceptors and most places were accommodating. - Alum
- Rutgers College of Nursing I had nothing but positive experiences in my time at Rutgers CON as a undergrad earning my BS, so it was my obvious first choice for my graduate studies. My program director became my mentor and she guided and supported me in both my academic and personal growth. I was set up with a preceptor, as were the rest of my peers, for both health assessment and specialty clinical areas, at no cost. It was a hybrid program at that time (2005-2007), with core classes utilizing blackboard and email correspondences for the general classes, however the specialty lectures were in person, as well as half of the advanced health assessment course. I was well prepared to pass my certification exam through my schooling, but I also credit experience in the field prior to and during there program, which I attended part time while working nights full time over the course of two years (six semesters.) - Alum
- Graduate of UMDNJ-School of Graduate Nursing I was in the last class to graduate from the FNP program @ UMDNJ School of Nursing. Students are now enrolled at Rutgers for this program. I had a wonderful advisor when I enrolled that gave me some really good advice. Unfortunately, she left after my first semester. The program was initially advertised as online but our class ended up being in-person due to accreditation requirements. We were required to seek out and arrange clinical internships on our own. Through networking I was blessed to find and work with amazing preceptors who truly provided me with valuable tools for real-world NP experiences that prepared me well for my profession. After passing my certification exam I was offered a position with the pediatric practice where I completed my internship and still working presently. - Alum
