5 reviews collected from current residents and alumni.- Overall good program We were responsible for securing our own preceptors, however if needed guidance was available. I do feel, however that the process could be streamlined. I also learned that the preceptors are given no compensation for their time and efforts. I feel if we are going to pay the university a fee for this, the preceptors should see some of this. - Alum
- Good program Overall NNU was a good program for me. I do feel that you get out what you put in applies to NNU like most other NP programs. I would have liked a little more help getting high quality precepting opportunities. But all things considered I'm not unhappy I went there. - Alum
- Enjoyed most of it! Felt prepared for testing. I had to find my own preceptorships. It was not hard because I was already working with providers willing to take students. I had great preceptor experiences. I wish I would have known to ask them for more application type scenarios to get a feel for how it would be working in a practice. - Alum
- Impressive program As a current Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) student at Northwest Nazarene University, I’ve found the program to be both rigorous and incredibly rewarding. NNU offers a faith-based education that encourages not just academic growth, but also personal and spiritual development—something that really sets it apart. The coursework is challenging, but the faculty are supportive, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in student success. One of the biggest strengths of the program is its flexibility. The online format allows me to continue working while completing my degree, and the on-campus intensives provide valuable hands-on learning that complements the clinical hours. I’ve been able to complete my practicum hours locally, which has made balancing school and life much more manageable. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and readily available. - Alum
- Small cohorts and good support This program was my first choice when applying to schools for several reasons. Small cohorts, required in-person intensives, Christian values, location, clinical placement help, payment for preceptors, and cost. This school isn’t somewhere you will get lost in the shuffle. Instructors know the students and care to help them learn and be successful. While I didn’t need clinical placement assistance, I did see regular emails with placement opportunities available to students. This school does a great job of cataloging providers who are willing to accept students from this program. The program pays preceptors directly and while it’s not a ton providers appreciate it. The total cost of the program was well worth the career advancement and wage increase from RN to FNP. I was pregnant and had my baby during the program and the accommodations I received were generous and thoughtful. I would recommend this program to others. - Alum
