9 reviews collected from current residents and alumni.- TSU NP Program TSU's FNP program had the perfect mix of online and in-person classes. I was able to take all core classes to FNP including A&P, Pharmacology, FNP I and II in person which was very important in my choosing a program. - Alum
- Teachers terrible. Crappy resources. Outdated lab TSU doesn’t help you do anything. It is not for the weak or faint at heart. You have to do everything for yourself. The staff is rude, they TT like a dog. No up to date facilities, no computer lab, no HVAC or toilet paper in restrooms. I would never send my child to school there. Instructors are fake and careless. Spend the money on a quality education. - Alum
- Affordable but you get what you pay for… I had my own side gig during my NP program working as a health coach, not a full-Time job. I also took care of my 3 young kids at home. The workload was tough at times but a good balance of online and in-person course work. I enjoyed and excelled better at in-person. Preceptorship was all on our own to secure. No help was provided. This was stressful and worrisome at times. There were other schools in the area that paid for preceptorships and arranged them for students. Some clinics wouldn’t take us for those reasons so it was all in who you know. Board prep was O-K. We did some practice tests designed by some of the professors but I found greater help from study apps and materials I purchased on my own. - Alum
- Unorganized The school was very unorganized and faculty changed each semester. The one faculty that stayed was overloaded. TSU was affordable and fit my work schedule at that time. This was 15 years ago so things might have changed. - Alum
- RN to FNP I had 20+ yrs of nursing experience as a BSN prior to entering school to get a MSN/FNP. I was very fortunate to have worked, trained & collaborated with some of the greatest healthcare/medical pioneers across the country. I believe my years of experience & training better prepared me for the FNP role than attending graduate school. There should be requirements of employment experience in order to begin NP school & this becomes more important as changes in overall healthcare dynamics occur. TSU lacked overall program organization & support to students. There was not advanced planning presented or enforced guidelines or expectations. There was no assistance in locating preceptors & lack of preceptor direction. My nursing background & experience prepared me for certification. I earned a battle degree which prepared me for overcoming the chaos of the healthcare market at TSU. - Alum
