9 reviews collected from current residents and alumni.- Set up for success I felt the University of Akron program set me up well with great preceptors at great locations. I felt well prepared coming out of the program to see patients in the primary care setting. - Alum
- Preceptors / Pharmacology The core classes and instructors were amazing and the instructors were there to help and guide us toward success. The only 2 complaints I have about the program is that during my time the pharmacology class was not structured and presented well. Preceptorships were my other concern. I feel programs should be more involved in arranging preceptorship opportunities and helping with placement options. - Alum
- NP program I attended U of A from 2004-2007 for primary care pediatric NP and then post masters from 2008 to 2010 for adult/gero NP. At the time the family program at another college was too cost prohibitive. I learned so much with the curriculum and preceptors. Have worked in the emergency department, occupational medicine and urgent care settings. The education helped me work efficiently in my role as a NP. I have served as a preceptor to help mentor other students. I also received grants and scholarships to help make the tuition affordable. Very grateful for my 5 years of grad school! - Alum
- DNP program I worked at a hospital at the time so was able to make the hours and finding a preceptor work. It was a very time consuming difficult program but I did finish. - Alum
- Great program The combo mostly online and 2 weekend sessions a semester worked great, dates known in advance. The professors were knowledgeable on research methods and offered great guidance to those unfamiliar. I must add that these professors REALLY CARED about the success of the students, worked with them all with individual concerns that came up as life with family and work despite also being a student. Highly recommend this DNP program! Note that the rating for certification preparation is only a 1 as there is NO TESTING for DNP in the post-masters program - Alum
