• Great for the working nurse The program only required me to be on campus one day per week. It allowed me to choose my own clinical sites in my community. This helped me learn more about my community as well as make important contacts for my future employment. - Alum

• No Regrets Initially I wanted a private Christian school, but due to high tuition at these schools and their schedule, I chose Cal State. I don’t regret attending this school. I felt I had the best professors who were articulate and experienced. The work load was affordable for my to carry in addition to my work and personal life. I’m thankful I had seamless effort obtaining my preceptors. - Alum

• Any program is what you make of it I completed my NP certification when MSN programs were still available — I cannot speak to the DNP program if that is what you seek. Overall, I believe California State University system provides the greatest value for your dollar. Their nursing program is well established and it shows across all degree levels. For preceptorships, I managed to secure my own ahead of time — YMMV, as that was pre-COVID going into COVID era and securing a preceptorship was not an easy task. For preparedness, most of your existing nursing background will guide your future. CSULB’s NP programs will provide you a very basic foundation, but ultimately how engaged you are and how your background has served you is what matters most. Overall, I recommend CSULB for their organization and well-established record. I did not feel ill-prepared for my board certification and I fully support publicly funded, brick and mortar institutions. - Alum
