- Could use some work I would say overall my experience was good. They provided absolutely no assistance in finding preceptors (I actually had to go an extra year in the program because I could not find a preceptor for a particular class). Another major problem is their program is only 44 credits and if you wanted to practice in any other state, their minimum requirements to even apply to work as a NP is 45. So, I had to take another class at a random college to get to 45 so I could practice one state over. When I contacted the program, they provided no assistance and basically said it wasn't their problem. - Alum
- Flexible and affordable Master’s program I highly recommend University of Central Missouri for grad school, particularly in the MSN program. My experience was overall very positive. One of the greatest advantages of the program was the flexibility it offered. As a mother, the ability to work at my own pace and remotely was invaluable. Most of the coursework was online, minus clinicals. This made it possible to balance both my academic and personal responsibilities. However, one aspect that could be improved was the clinical placement process. The program required students to find their own preceptors, with little to no support from the program. While I was fortunate enough to work at a University hospital and had plenty of resources to rely on, I know some of my classmates faced challenges in securing clinical placements. That being said, the program itself was excellent, and the cost was very reasonable compared to other universities. I believe it provided a strong education that has greatly benefited my career. - Alum
- good value for the money UCM is very affordable and a great value. I felt prepared after my degree and didn't feel mounted in insane amounts of debt afterwards. I would highly recommend this program to anyone interested in getting their NP degree. - Alum
- Good NP program I attended UCM from 2011-2014. It was a very good program. Finding your own preceptor has its pros and cons. It was stressful to find someone but I was happy so got to choose instead of being stuck with someone who didn’t necessarily want to be a preceptor but had to bc of school affiliation. UCM provided good work-school balance but it was still a rigorous program. Online programs to the contrary are not easier, you have to be disciplined to get the work done. Good luck! - Alum
- Preceptorship I felt my education at UCM was outstanding however they were not helpful at all insecure preceptors, which was extremely stressful. I feel moving forward. The university should provide preceptors for each rotation. This was extremely time-consuming and stress inducing. - Alum
