- Paired With Preceptors and Program Online The positive aspects of this program include being paired with clinical preceptors, all clinical preceptors, except for one, were very helpful, and the program was online. The program seemed very unorganized. The heads of the psych program, at that time, were outspoken about not liking post master certificate students and this was obvious. We were told they wanted to do away with the post master certificate program. I don’t believe they were able to make this change in the program. You have to take into consideration this was almost 10 years ago. Hopefully, the program has improved with new leadership. - Alum
- Director Trouble The program director position had turnover and was poorly managed, but the rest of the program was adequate. If they have a new director, it should be much improved. - Alum
- Overall good value I worked PRN on weekends while doing clinicals and found that to be manageable while completing coursework and maintaining family life. There was no program assistance in clinical placement, which is really not acceptable, in my opinion. It's so difficult to find clinical placement, especially for psychiatric clinicals. I was able to do so, and have returned the favor, paying it forward, but programs should really assist with clinical placement. Overall I felt prepared for certification exam and feel the program was a good value. - Alum
- Highly recommended I had an overall great experience going through the DNP process at the University of Tennessee. They have a large network of established preceptors in the area, so I didn't have to find any of them on my own, even while this was going on through Covid. I was able to experience incredible clinical rotations, including at a school-based pediatric clinic that served underserved kids, a dermatology office, a rural family care practice, an urban combination urgent/primary care clinic, and a OB/GYN that served a diverse group of patients. Our clinical professor was inspirational, compassionate, and very knowledgeable. She provided such a comfortable, welcoming learning environment and made the OSCE experience much more enjoyable than I had anticipated. The only issue I had throughout my time was with my DNP project advisor, but we were able to work through it and I was able to successfully complete my project in time. - Alum
- Working while pursuing my NP degree I was able to work with physicians during my preceptorship. I was placed by the staff. At that time there was no cost to me. - Alum
