5 reviews collected from current residents and alumni.- Provide psychiatric care in NM rural areas Great university for nurses to advance their career in psychiatric mental health and provide additional psychiatric services in rural communities of New Mexico! - Alum
- Ease of communication, prepared me for my career. Able to reach out to instructors fairly easily. Instructors are understanding of real life going on. Feel that there is some busy work in some classes but did feel supported throughout the program. - Alum
- served it's purpose I am not sure how I would feel about this program if I had not practiced before but for me as an NP for many years prior to this program it was fine. I already knew what I needed and I took what I needed. I worked full time including call during the program. That was fine. I passed boards the first time. I am practicing and confident in that and have wonderful preceptors I can reach out to if I need anything or have questions. But If I had not already been experienced, I am not sure how I would have fared to be honest. I felt so prepared for practice after my original program but I didn't get that vibe from many of my cohort (combined with traditional students). But again, I got what I needed, I invested and used the resources and learned from my fantastic preceptors (that I found or got help from former students, the school didn't help very much if at all) and came out with everything I needed. - Alum
- Cost efficient, fairly easy course load Very affordable, worked full time til last term. Did have a really hard time finding preceptors, but it was during Covid. I do wish the course load was a little more challenging as I did not feel fully ready to take my exam at the end they did provide an exam course, but also took another one to ensure I didn’t have any gaps. Passed my first time. - Alum
- Great Program Finding preceptors was one of the hardest part of the program. The school supported students who could not find placement by arranging placements for them. I was able to work during my first and second years of the program, however, during the 3rd year I was only able to work one day a week. To the defense of the school, we were warned of how busy the 3rd year was going to be. The support from my professors and peers helped me stay and complete the program. I took my certification exam about two weeks after graduation. - Alum
