- OU MSN FNP Program I was able to continue working between 30-40 hours a week in ED as an RN during my program. They do not provide preceptor placement which can be a bit rough. I luckily knew some people through work and family allowing me to get in for preceptor hours. They will help place you if you unable to secure your own. The students I know who did this however, did not have a good preceptor experience. I felt prepared for my certification exam overall. I did complete a review course prior to testing as well. - Alum
- Good experience After receiving my third degree from OU, I would recommend. It is a realistic program allowing me to continue my career as a nurse and have a work school life balance. - Alum
- Did not prepared me for my first role as an NP I graduated in 2014, so it’s possible that things have changed since then. At the time, I was responsible for finding my own preceptor, which unfortunately resulted in a less-than-ideal match. I didn't feel that I gained much from my coursework, and as a result, I had to supplement my education by purchasing the Fitzgerald AGPCNP Review Course, which ended up being far more educational and impactful than the program itself. - Alum
- Prepares you to sit for your boards only. The overall experience of obtaining my advanced degree was worth all the time, effort, and cost. The campus and equipment is great. The location wonderful. However, OU provides minimal assistance finding preceptors. Their program is taught to help you pass board exams (and you will still need outside review courses at an extra cost). They do not focus on preparing you to work in the field. When you complete this program you will need to have a job that is willing to continue your training. - Alum
- Overall good experience I thought the classwork and clinical lab experience was exceptional. We got a lot of experience with physical exam experience before actually seeing real patients. I thought they did a very good job with doing a thorough job educating me on what I needed to learn. I thought their nursing school was very organized and responsive to concerns compared to prior nursing experiences. My biggest complaints were that we had to find our own preceptors. Also, I didn’t get any assistance finding a job after I graduated. However, I eventually did find a job and am currently working in my dream NP job - Alum
