- Great program and career choice Instructors were great!! Luckily, I was able to find preceptors for Adult, Peds and Infectious disease rotations. Cost was manageable. I did ride share to go to classes. Graduation ceremony was very nice. - Alum
- Solid program I was in my late thirties with almost 20 years of experience as a RN when I started this program. It took a little networking but was able to find a preceptor without much difficulty. It is important that you identify your areas of weakness and get as much clinical time with those specialties as you can. Just having a preceptor in your comfort zone will not serve you well in the long run. I did additional clinical hours with specialists. The program definitely prepared me for passing boards and employment as a NP. I would also recommend joining the Nurse Practitioner group in your state. It’s a great way to network and find positions. - Alum
- Should have included Would have benefited from a rotation at least one shift through different specialty clinics, such as cardiology pulmonology orthopedic just to see a little bit more about the training in those areas with the expectations in those areas. I also ended up in an urgent care. Would’ve been nice to have a rotation in that to have had some procedure training Overall, the training for the day today was very good. I had some wonderful preceptors that I had found through word-of-mouth and just feel my experience was very fortunate. I was working in the ER at the time and the providers. There were also very supportive, very helpful and would teach me a lot as we went along. - Alum
- Difficulty with preceptorship Maybe my experience was different, I worked full-time, had 3 kids at home and went to class and preceptor locations. It was a heavy load. We had no help in finding preceptors. Many of us had a difficult time finding the peds portion. Also, many of the doctors were not taking students during that time. The program was tough but overall prepared us for what to expect. I felt that the faculty had been in their positions for many years and had their favorite pupils and were harder on others. I am sure many of them have since retired. So hopefully, the staff gives the needed support, encouragement and guidance to help the students during this stressful time. - Alum
