- Program review I wish the program focused more on illnesses by system and less on writing papers every week, like research for a doctoral thesis. Finding a preceptor was a big issue; the school doesn't give you options or financial support for preceptoship. - Alum
- Poor communication I had no issues with the school until it was time for clinicals. I attempted to leverage my connections within a large hospital system and secured a preceptor. The school was no help in establishing an official connection with the education department at the hospital system, and I had to pay out of pocket for an alternative preceptor until I finally received approval from the education department 9 months later. - Alum
- Overall a Great Program My overall take is that this program is good, but could be better. Teaching base knowledge for national exam prep was on par with great instructors who were amazing. They all were extremely attentive to the students and understanding. They all adapted to the needs and different learning styles of the students. Very grateful for all my instructors. However, one aspect of the course could be improved. There is a skills portion that was all done through Oculus headset. Now, this was in the midst of the pandemic, so provisions were made to accommodate the skills portion. Once my clinicals came, I felt wholly unprepared. For instance, I was asked to set up for a central line placement. I was absolutely not prepared. The Oculus skills learning did not prepare me and during placement I felt unprepared as well. Thankfully, my preceptors were very understanding and walked me through all aspects. But, I felt like I was very lucky to have understanding preceptors. - Alum
- Purdue West Lafayette NP Program Purdue is an excellent program. Courses were offered on Friday evenings and all day Saturday. Allowing me to work full-time. The last semester was a little heavier with several hundred hours of required clinical but I could continue to work part-time. Purdue provided excellent certification exam prep. It alleviated a lot of anxiety. Purdue prepared me well for the work environment. I felt prepared to begin at the entry level and learn from my workplace preceptors. - Alum
- Post Master's FNP review I enjoyed all of the courses. Finding preceptors was difficult; I would start early and be prepared to pay. I do wish there was more training on ICD-10 coding, only the very basics are covered in the courses themselves as learning in preceptorship is challenging. - Alum
