- Needs improvement The professors were overall excellent, but the program itself placed a heavy emphasis on independent reading, which may not be the most effective learning method for many of us. I would have greatly appreciated the opportunity for virtual lectures, where we could ask questions and engage with peers in real time. Additionally, the lack of support in securing a preceptor was disappointing, especially considering the program's steep cost—this should have been arranged for us. Even nearly 10 years later, the financial burden of the program continues to affect me. - Alum
- University of Tennessee Memphis I was lucky to go to NP school before the big boom and popularity of being a nurse practitioner in the late 90s. My instructors were very research oriented. I was able to work weekends and go to school full time. Overall I had a great experience. And love what I do every day. - Alum
- School and work During my Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program at the University of Tennessee , I developed a desire to pursue a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree ten years later. My primary motivation was to secure a secondary career path as an alternative to my current 24-hour shifts. While the workload for the MSN program was manageable, the doctoral program presented a significantly more demanding workload, characterized by a substantial amount of administrative and research-related tasks. - Alum
- UTHSC experience Though the program is rigorous, I was always pleasantly surprised with each class. I learned and was taught useful information and information that can be and is applied to my clinical practice. The UTHSC program is an excellent program and an excellent investment in oneself. - Alum
- Would not recommend if you need to work I was lucky to know physicians where I worked and had no trouble getting preceptors - Alum
