- Prepared for licensure and for work! UT Tyler was an excellent program. I felt ready to perform right away, and got a job from one of my internships immediately after graduating. Passed the licensure exam on the first try. Preceptorship would have been free, but OBGYN offices required payment for me. UT Tyler had nothing to do with costs of preceptorship and worked hard to find me someone that did not charge. Unfortunately the only offices that would accept a male student charged a preceptor fee. - Alum
- Awesome program and great faculty The program really prepared me for my NP career. They have awesome faculty to help and make sure you succeed and pass your board exam at first attempt. - Alum
- Where Educators Truly Show Up for Their Students The graduate program at this university was the best academic experience I’ve ever had. After a previously negative experience elsewhere, this program restored my faith in what higher education should be—professors and staff who genuinely support their students. Preceptor placements were well-organized, whether through professor-affiliated clinics or student-found sites. The administrative team was exceptional in securing contracts quickly and keeping students informed. The workload was manageable but challenging, and I was able to work full-time while earning strong grades. Psychopharmacology was the toughest course, but the professor’s skillful teaching and practical study guidance made all the difference. Weekly live classes meant real learning, not self-teaching or just writing papers. Faculty were accessible, engaged, and even offered extra support sessions. Small touches—like brief meditation before class—created a positive learning environment I carry into my own practice. - Alum
- UT - Tyler Enjoyed this program. My only suggestion would be to help secure preceptors. - Alum
- Good Univerisity Overall UT Tyler was overall a good university, and the professors were great as well. My biggest complaint would be that UT Tyler provided us with a preceptor list for the PMHNP program that only had FNP preceptors on the list. I did not get one solid lead for the PMHNP program that helped. I had to travel 2 1/2 hours one way for one preceptor for 9 weeks, and had to stay in a hotel 2 days per week for that semester. The other semester, I found a preceptor through a pharmaceutical rep, whom I asked for help finding a PMHNP or psychiatrist. I guess the positive is that I didn't have to pay for a preceptor. I have precepted NP students for years and have never charged them either. The $2500 I stated was for hotel costs during the program. - Alum
