- Placements were provided Placement and preceptors were provided but not the most dynamic or engaging experiences to really test or develop differentials. School was OK but seemed to focus more on APA formatting than being a good and thorough NP/Medical provider. (I.e the program was more concerned about theory than practical application.) - Alum
- Recommend I was at the University of Colorado Denver from 2007-2009 and had a pleasant graduation education there. They helped find preceptorships at the time and we had a hybrid of in-person and online classes. I found I had to study a lot for the NP certification exam, but that may have been more a function of how much I studied or used (or didn't use) all my resources during the program. I didn't have any debt after the program because state schools are better at helping find federal loans to help with schooling. I have since finished a doctorate degree at a different state school and found it to be of similar rigor to University of Colorado Denver. I always liked the historical tie of UCD to the earliest NP programs in the country. - Alum
- NP Program I had a good experience in my program, but had to push for NP clinicals as the school was pushing for CNS graduates at the time I attended. - Alum
- Early NP Specialty programs offered Wonderful experience, had wonderful preceptors, was able to work during schooling - Alum
- Overall Review I was very disappointed in the quality of education for CU's NP program. I had higher expectations given CU's reputation. I would say that lectures for OB and Peds were the best and very detailed. However, for the remainder of classes the lectures were very basic and not at the level needed for NP education. I read all of my text books front to back and felt like I taught myself which is insufficient for the job I am expected to do. Thankfully, I was able to do a fellowship for primary care after school that bridged the gap in the clear lack of education. I think that NP education as a whole really needs to change with more focus on diagnosis and management and more clinical hours. I will say that CU did find my clinical hours which I did appreciate. - Alum
