Preceptorship
The program prepared me for the exam but were required to find the preceptors that were needed to complete clinical. I was able to work part time as I continued my studies. However, the program helped prepared and guide me to resources needed to pass exam. While in clinical I was offered a full time position as a family NP.

Hybrid MSN program, best of both worlds
Southern University’s Nurse Practitioner program offers a foundation that effectively prepares students for the board examination through a rigorous and comprehensive curriculum. The graduate program follows a hybrid model, combining online coursework with in-person class meetings which provides valuable flexibility for working professionals. While the program does provide preceptor assistance, students are encouraged to begin securing their own preceptors early in the program. Overall, Southern University’s NP program equips students with the tools needed for success in both certification and clinical practice.

Overall great experience. After graduating I felt prepared. Instructors were helpful and always made time to answer questions.

Well Prepared
While the program was very challenging, it prepared me with the knowledge and skills necessary to begin my career as a Family Nurse Practitioner. I passed my certification exam on the first take and landed a job shortly thereafter. Currently 10+ years as an FNP and remain confident in my knowledge and experience in caring for my patients and equipping them with information and knowledge to work towards maintaining healthy lifestyles.
