- Excellent education with a focus on rural health I was not a local student to Kansas. I was fully responsible for locating and coordinating with preceptors for the required hours. This is not what the school told me when I was researching and applying to the program. The faculty and course content was excellent and I felt very prepared to enter clinical, and the workforce as an NP. - Alum
- Great program KU has its pros and cons. It is a longer program, 5 years, BUT I was able to work full time except year 4. I enjoyed my life to the fullest while in the program vs giving up my life to study. The ability to work also meant I could pay for the degree as I went, only accruing minimal debt. For me, these things outweighed a faster program. When I attended (2015-2020) you had to find your own clinical placement, which was tough but did not cost money. The school assists with this if you’re really struggling but the expectation is that you find your own preceptors. I felt the faculty cared about their students and wanted to send each of us off prepared and equipped to be both great clinicians and leaders in the field. I have a friend who has now taught at 2 other universities in the area and feels that we got the best education of the 3, which I think says a lot! No program is perfect, but KU has a good curriculum and excellent faculty. - Alum
- Program Review The program overall provided a positive impact on my nursing career. In addition to the degree, license, and certification, the program facilitated personal and professional growth as well as ample networking opportunities to advance my career. - Alum
- ROCK CHALK JAYHAWKS!!! Could not ask for a better experience. The preceptorship opportunities are robust through KU; however, we are AD military and they were unable to help me beyond some of their connections which is completely out of their hands. But I will tell you my faculty did do what they could to reach out to out-of-state connections to help me. I am beyond proud to have a DNP with the KU insignia on it. You will not regret becoming a DNP prepared APRN with KU backing you!!! - Alum
- Highly Recommend KU Excellent program with great faculty who really support their DNP students. PMHNP faculty have strong connections across the state and finding a preceptor wasn’t difficult for me and zero cost to me. The program prepared me well and I passed boards with no difficulty. - Alum
