7 reviews collected from current residents and alumni.- A great local option. Sacred Heart University provided a good foundation of education for my nurse practitioner program and I felt prepared to take my board exam after completing my final classes. Sometimes getting placements for preceptorships was somewhat difficult however, in the end, it all worked out and I was able to obtain my required hours without significant difficulty. Overall, I would highly recommend this as a great local option to those in the Connecticut or Northeast area looking to obtain a masters degree, especially with their blended on campus and asynchronous learning options. - Alum
- My Experience was nothing but positive. While the program was not easy it prepared me for a invaluable career. Some areas of study resulted in difficult placement for clinicals, i.e. location, appropriate clinic or setting. However overall I received a great education and would recommend SHU to anyone interested in advancing their nursing career. - Alum
- Clinical I had a wonderful experience with Dr DeNisco & Dr Julie Stewart at St Vincents clinic, but had difficulty getting Peds & Womens Health clinicals. Those experiences were not as good. I did Womens Health with a Yale practice which did not let me do anything and were not helpful. - Alum
- No complaints I graduated from Scared Heart as a FNP 13 years ago and don't think I appreciated the program until now. I'm back in school for my Psych NP certificate at a different school and there is zero professor engagement. You're basically left to learn everything on your own. This style works ok for me but Sacred Heart was sooooo much better for a supportive program. - Alum
- Terrible toxic oppressive environment The professors treat you as if you are beneath them. They have favorites they respect and everyone else is treated very poorly. They gossip, they are petty and small minded. In this area they have a notorious reputation for how they treat students. - Alum
