7 reviews collected from current residents and alumni.- Excellent program that cares about its students I was a DNP student from 2012-2015. I was very pleased with my experience as a student. I felt the program was challenging and preparing me to be the best NP I could be upon graduation, yet also had a very supportive culture. Professors were dedicated to their teaching. My main professors in the program (psych) who were also really mentors were incredibly supportive. The program arranged for all of my clinical preceptors/hours (I did not have to go looking for someone to be my preceptor) and my preceptors were exemplars in the field and also very supportive and giving of their time to make sure I didn't just get my hours but also learned as much as possible in that time. Lots of support for the DNP project -- supported my idea for the project and the program had a lot of scaffolding in place during the last 1 1/2 years to make sure you were making steady progress on the project. And my classmates rocked -- really a great a bunch of people to hang out with for 3 years! - Alum

- UIHC first Gerontology NP program The university worked well with me as a non-traditional student. I was working full time, going to school full time, married with 3 children. I needed to find my own preceptor locations. I did feel that the professors did not have any idea of handling a real NP practice. They all claimed to have an NP practice, but quite certain it wasn’t anything like my clinic practice. I’m quite certain they had a little part time clinic, unlike my NP position where I had over 900 primary care patients in my panel. My knowledge base was good, but I felt I lacked experience in the real world. This was a very long time ago. I only hope it has improved since that time. I have a very interesting history in finding an actual NP position as at the time of my graduation, the market didn’t know what to do with us. - Alum
- University of Iowa I would highly recommend the master's program at the University of Iowa. The program held high standards and prepared me for my certification and practice as an APRN. I received by degree prior to the requirements needed for hospital the requirements for an APP to be credentialled to be practice. I was the first APRN who was certified through ANCC thanks to the recommendations at the University of Iowa. This is an excellent program. - Alum
