• Rivier Experience A MSN/Family Practice Primary Care NP degree is a very challenging degree. It is not supposed to be easy, and there’s time that must be dedicated to being successful. The staff and instructors were excellent and make the students education the priority. They were approachable and supportive while stressing the student commitment required to complete the program. Clinical placement is always challenging as they are limited. River University was at the mercy of this limitation, but did what they could to assist. It has been 10 years since earning my MSN from River University. I continue to highly recommend their program as it has given me a solid foundation to grow as nurse practitioner. - Alum
• Good value and experience This program prepared me well to pass my certification exam and find a job upon graduation. We had support through our program in getting paired with a clinical preceptor, so meeting the required clinical hours was attainable. I have continued to build relationships and network with other providers from Rivier. - Alum
• Placement is key. The Program itself is very well known at this university. However, my only disadvantage was that due to my current employment, I was placed with the preceptor. It was also part of the hospital that I was currently working at. This was great, except I was unable to do anything on the computer. Therefore, I couldn’t do notes, orders, or document assessments. I feel if I had a different placement, this would’ve been different. Because of this, I didn’t have confidence going into my first job and therefore went straight into a specialty. - Alum
