- In school during covid COVID hit during my second semester in the program so it’s difficult to say whether some of my negative experiences were unique to this time. I had to find most of my preceptors and many of my classmates were unable to find clinical sites at all for over a year. Some professors were wonderful while others were among the worst I’ve ever had. I passed certification exam fairly easily and found my first job in the hospital I was already working in as a RN. - Alum
- I had great professors and preceptors. I found preceptors by myself. They are good on mentoring and teaching. - Alum
- Good program School helps sometimes and sometimes you have to find your own - Alum
- NP program not available at the time. NP degree not available at the time I was in attendance. Post grad I took the pharmacy requirements at Albany College of pharmacy and was grandfathered in and licenced as a nurse practitioner in NY and Massachusetts. Incidentally my master's thesis proposal focused on Nurses Knowledge of Neuroscience and the outline was used the next year to prepare nurses for the NP degree. I had a wonderful experience at Adelphi after the arduous process of getting accepted with my "unconventional" , at the time, bachelors degree. The faculty was amazingly supportive. I had a full and varied career post grad serving in leadership positions, nursing administration, psychiatric research, and adjunct faculty at Adelphi and an expansive clinical practice. I currently serve of the board of directors for the National Alliance on Mental Illness Cape Cod & the Islands. - Alum
- Was a great investment As much as the initial beginning was a hiccup, I actually received a quality education. The coursework was very much so relevant, and I learned a lot. However midway through I realised I was more suited for acute care. But that’s neither here nor there. Clinical I did not have to think about, simply submit the boroughs I was willing to go to and boom I had a site and preceptor. The professors were for the most part great and WANTED you to succeed (not all though I wont lie). It was honestly a quality education. The stupid book they gave at the end for review though was pretty garbage, didnt even use it. But I studied like crazy and passed on the first try. - Alum
