- Review Good curriculum. Manageable workload. Excellent to place preceptor yet. At the time program director was poor. - Alum
- Work at OSU if you can Even if that means taking a job that pays less, working full time for 4 years to have your $100,000+ degree paid for is worth it. It was really hard, but 30 years of repayment is harder. Even 10 years of repayment with the public service loan forgiveness may be hard. Be prepared to work the hardest you have ever worked from beginning to end. And also know the instructors teaching your classes may not work in a the type of clinic you want or even with the same patient population or may not even work in a clinic at all. Advocate for yourself and what you need. Form a study group early, it’ll stick with you through the whole program. - Alum
- Prepared me well for my first role as an NP I was able to work full-time as a nurse and complete the program on a part-time basis, taking approximately 3 years. I highly recommend the program, the professors provided quality lectures and held the students to high standards. - Alum
- Not an easy ride: Can’t coast through this program I was in the grad-entry NP program and it was the most stressful 3 years of my life. Especially the NP portion of the program. The RN portion was a lot of work, but mostly "busy work" and not too difficult. The NP classes and instructors were ruthless. The peds primary care instructors are well known to be the most challenging and hold their students to the highest of high standards. It was really stressful and I felt like I barely made it through. However, I was working full time as an RN and they don't recommend doing that. I imagine this would've been more manageable and less stressful if I listened to that. But I chose to work full time at OSU as a nurse in order to get most of it paid for. It's an incredibly challenging program, but I know it was worth it in the end. So nice that we didn't have to find our own preceptors! - Alum
- Before improvements I went through the OSU PMHNP program, graduating in 2019 ,and sadly this is before they incorporated a psychopharmacology course. Not sure how we went through without that but we did (we had general pharmacology). Since then they've added this course. This may be the same in all grad schools, but I had to teach myself almost everything I learned, other than what my preceptors taught me. I found my own preceptors because I was well-connected. - Alum
