29 reviews collected from current residents and alumni.- Self Teaching at it's finest I was prepared for my board exam but it was my doing. While I had classmates that had some instructors that actually did instruction, that was not my experience. This program was 100% self taught. The power points the sent out were from the textbook manufacturers. No lectures. A whole lot of group work and discussion posts. Lots of papers to write. It may be better now but a decade ago, it was not an ideal program. - Alum
- Online I went to the online option. For thr cost, I felt it was very expensive and the 2nd year was extremely difficult due to a poor professor that should have been removed but at least the head of the department helped me. I had to find my own preceptors. - Alum
- Online and convenient I enjoyed the online portion of the program since I was also working full time. I wish they helped more with preceptor placement and since it was an online program there was no assistance in finding a job, but due to the need in my area I didn’t have an issue finding a job - Alum
- Maryville University FNP Program There was a lot of busy work. I really value the relationships I formed through the group work and I still reach out to my peers from time to time. I wish there had been more support to find preceptors, but fortunately in my career as a nurse, I was able to reach out to some colleagues to secure preceptors. - Alum
- I liked Maryville it’s an all on line program. I did PMHNP post certification. For about the same time and price you can get DNP instead of certificate but I didn’t know that. The professors were easy to reach and talk to. I took a separate review course to prepare for exam. I already had a job waiting so I didn’t need help with placement. No matter how long you have been a nurse (I was a nurse for 30 years) there is still a learning curve. Cut yourself some slack and know it takes 2 years to become adequate and 5 for proficiency. - Alum
