6 reviews collected from current residents and alumni.- Best Option If you’re thinking about going back for your NP, I would only recommend Hofstra. I felt more prepared than some of my colleagues who went to other programs. - Alum
- Guidance by faculty was always available Every step of the way the faculty was always available when needed. They had an open door policy and provided real time feedback offering guidance for success. - Alum
- Hofstra Overall Hofstra’s program was challenging but rewarding. I felt prepared for my first position. All my preceptors were very knowledgeable and kind. - Alum
- Worth it The program itself was very difficult, especially while working full time. However, I did feel that I learned so much and I was extremely prepared for working after graduation. - Alum
- Specialty vs general They place you with preceptors, but every place has pros and cons. Some preceptors were too busy to teach, some sites were too slow to learn anything, it's a roll of the dice. You may have to make the most of it and interject yourself into being active for you to learn. I opted to hyper specialize in cardiology for my preceptorship. It was a very informative experience, however, not very applicable in real life. I would've been better off doing hospital medicine or even critical care, to better prepare me for my first job. - Alum
