17 reviews collected from current residents and alumni.- It was great. I had no qualms attending this program for FNP when I graduated in 2013. I felt I received a well-rounded education that prepared me adequately. When I spoke with other FNPs who graduated from different schools, I felt University of St. Francis prepared us better because some things we were taught was not given at the other schools. For instance, classes on suturing, reading chest x-rays, ekgs, actual real human models to perform physical assessments, Fluorescein eye stain tests, pelvic and prostate exams. We did a fully developed thesis and poster-board presentations. I was also able to get a well- rounded preceptorship experience. I had no issue finding preceptors as my school was already contracted with a large medical group in my area. Therefore, I didn't have to endure long searches to find one. I was able to complete the program while working full-time. I felt prepared to step out into the real working world as an FNP upon graduation. I have zero regrets. - Alum
- Not Recommended Based on my own experience I cannot recommend this program at this time. While some instructors were quite good and had clearly spent time refining their course materials, others seemed to coast. It often took too long for them to grade assignments which disallowed utilizing feedback to improve future assignments. I had to purchase and utilize many additional resources to create a solid learning experience. There is no assistance with preceptorship placement. I would never recommend a program that does not provide preceptorship placement, especially when tuition cost is as high as it is with USF. I essentially felt that I was teaching myself, and I questioned my choice of schools throughout the experience. There are other similarly priced or lower cost options that will provide a better education. - Alum
- A good experience and good instructors. They did not help find a preceptor. I was able to secure my own preceptor. They were helpful in testing. The grades were late getting posted at times but overall a good experience. - Alum
- God's goodness secured my preceptorship. I received a good education at St. Francis. I had to work hard and their were many times I could not work my job due to my responsibility to classes. I worked agency for flexibility and I could not have worked a committed full time job. My school set high expectations and the communication was very structured. In finding preceptorship, I was a walking, talking marketer. I was making it known I needed a preceptor in my day to day activities. I met my first FNP preceptor while she was conducting my well woman exam. My other preceptor, a physician , was connected to me by a sister friend who worked for him as an assistant for over 20 years. It was a hallmark experience , I became a true FNP under his preceptorship. - Alum
- Working Parent with limited time!! I was the only income for a family of 7 as I completed the program and was able to take one class at a time throughout the program. Being online made it possible to continue working full-time and have time with my family while advancing my career. Since graduation I have seen my pay increase dramatically and found great joy in my ability to care for others! I encourage every nurse I meet to further their career by becoming a nurse practitioner. - Alum
