13 reviews collected from current residents and alumni.- MGH IHP is a great institution... Overall, I had a great experience at MGH IHP. The professors and instructors were well experienced in their NP roles and shared great insight and knowledge. I have heard chaos surrounding clinical placements for NP across the country. I am happy to report that I had the best clinical placements, and they were very different. MGH IHP has secured great clinical rotations for its students. I never had to worry about where my next placement would be and for that alone, I am grateful!! - Alum
- Excellent program all around My experience at the MGH IHP was overall a good one. I found the classes, workload, and professors to be stellar. At the time (2003-2006), it fell short with finding clinicals that I found useful, and ultimately, I found my own clinicals during the latter part of the program. This was fine and I had good experiences because I found the preceptors to support me. As someone who wanted to practice in Boston, the IHP was also great for making professional connections. - Alum
- NP grad school It was fine. Felt like there was too much MD bashing, that would be my only rec. - Alum
- Disappointing The instructors were rarely qualified to be teaching anything and there was no quality check on their competence. Many of the courses were just busy work and provided no real content that was useful. If you wanted a quality preceptorship you needed to find it on your own. - Alum
- DEN & DNP Programs I completed the Direct Entry Nursing (DEN) program at MGH IHP after earning a degree in neuroscience at Tulane, followed by their DNP program several years later. The BSN/MSN track was rigorous and clinically immersive, equipping me to step confidently into psychiatric practice. The DNP, while intensive, was designed with working professionals in mind—condensed, focused, and meaningful. The IHP doesn’t just prepare you to function in practice—it trains you to lead, to think critically, and to treat complex patients with autonomy and depth. - Alum
